What this tool does

BreakDecisions takes a decision you are trying to make and decomposes it into its first principles: the restated decision, the axioms (what is actually true), hidden analogies to flag, the unknowns worth resolving, what would change your mind, and the smallest next action. An optional Compare mode runs an analogy-based answer next to the axiomatic one so the difference is visible on the same input.

How it works under the hood

• The decomposition, the analogy-mode answer, and the adversarial Challenge review are all generated by calling Anthropic's Claude API from our server. Your decision text and context are sent to Anthropic in order to produce a response.
• If you paste reference URLs (up to three), our server fetches those pages, extracts readable text, and includes the extract in the context sent to the model. The raw page content is not stored server-side beyond the duration of the request.
• Your past sessions are kept in localStorage in your browser — up to five entries — so the history panel survives page reloads. Clearing your browser storage clears your history.
• Requests to the generation endpoints are rate limited per IP to prevent abuse.

What we are not

We are not a source of professional advice. The output is a structured reasoning artifact, not a recommendation you should act on without judgment. Domain expertise — legal, medical, financial, engineering — still belongs with the appropriate professional.
